Leave blank for normal compression. 1 KB = 1000 bytes. With a target, JPEG/WebP quality follows the selected strategy. PNG keeps transparency and may exceed the target.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can every photo be compressed down to 20KB?

20KB is a very small file size. A 12-megapixel smartphone camera photo (4000×3000) cannot reach 20KB without first reducing its pixel dimensions. If your file cannot reach 20KB, enable Resize in Advanced Settings and set the width to 600–800px; it will then easily compress below 20KB.

Can I compress a PNG to 20KB?

PNG uses lossless compression and keeps transparency, which requires more bytes. For photo content, JPEG or WebP will produce a much smaller file at 20KB. If you need 20KB, choose JPEG in the output format.

Will an official upload portal accept images compressed with ImgMin?

Yes. ImgMin outputs standard sRGB JPEG files that strictly respect the byte-size limit you set, without altering standard file headers required by online portals.
